Bhante Wimala to Visit
Gettysburg
Traveling Buddhist Monk Bhante Wimala has accepted an invitation
from the Unitarian Universalists of Gettysburg, 136 S. Stratton
St., Gettysburg, to speak at a Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. on
September 16, 2007.
For three decades Bhante Wimala has been traveling the globe
spreading universal messages of peace, loving-kindness, and non-violence.
Bhante is co-founder of the Triple Gem Society-Center for Conscious
Evolution, an international humanitarian organization. The Triple
Gem Society has developed and sponsored charitable projects in
numerous countries throughout the World. In the United States,
Triple Gem Society helps sponsor a prison ministry designed to
bring messages of hope, loving-kindness, forgiveness and rehabilitation
to incarcerated men and women.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama introduces Bhante Wimala as the “monk
from Sri Lanka who spends his time traveling and teaching in the
spirit of monks at the time of the Buddha.” Bhante has traveled
the world conducting workshops and teachings on meditation, world
peace, and evolutionary consciousness. He is “like the cleansing
rain, elementally real. He personifies clarity, love, joy and calm
peaceful presence. ” Bhante will discuss techniques of meditation
designed to help you live your daily life with conscious focus
and inner peace. You will share in the profound depth of knowledge,
expert guidance and wise council of this joyful, pioneering monk.
The public is invited.
Later Sunday evening, Bhante Wimala will offer meditation instructions,
discussions and a guided meditation at the Buddhist Meditation
Group, meeting at the Unitarian Universalists of Gettysburg, beginning
