Mediation Services Announces Conflict Resolution Training

Mediation Services of Adams County has recently released its training schedule for 2007. The annual 22-hour Conflict Resolution Training workshop, broken into four modules, will take place in October over two weekends, October 12-14 (Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 2-5 p.m.) and October 19-20 (Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.).

This year, participants will have the option of signing up for any of four modules, or all four modules (required for certification as a mediator). Modules include Dealing with Conflict (5 hours), Communication Skills (5 hours), Introduction to Mediation (6 hours), and Advanced Mediation Training (6 hours).

Each module costs $60, but participants who enroll on or before Sept. 30, 2007, will receive a $10 discount on individual modules and $40 discount on the full 22-hour training. Trainers are highly trained and experienced mediators working with Mediation Services of Adams County.

In addition, specialized conflict resolution training modules will be offered on request for teens, organizations, local government, church congregations, families, re-entry groups and prisoners. Modules deal with communication skills, conflict resolution skills and in some cases, mentored role plays. Specialized modules can be requested by calling Mediation Services at: 717-334-3871.

Registration forms for Conflict Resolution Training modules are available at the Adams County Public Library, the YWCA, the Gettysburg-Adams Chamber of Commerce, the United Way, or by calling 717-334-3871. Mediation Services was incorporated in 1995 and is a 501(c)3 organization with membership in the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators, the Behavioral Health Task Force of Healthy Adams County, and the Community Re-entry Coalition.
