Interchurch Network for Social Concerns Makes Two New Commitments
At its recent meeting, May 24, the Interchurch Network for Social Concerns voted unanimously its opposition to casino gambling in the Gettysburg area and began its organization of a task force to secure expressions of opposition from the people of its churches to aid in the campaign against that proposal. It was also agreed to seek to broaden representation on this task force through representatives from other county churches whose pastors had joined in in endorsing a statement of opposition issued by the Ministerium of Gettysburg.
INSC also endorsed bringing to the attention of its constituent churches the proposal of Jan Powers for sale of embroidered items from a Christian congregation in Bethlehem, Palestine, extrordinary items created by women whose husbands cannot work because of check‑points and other restrictions by Israeli soldiers.
