Community Unity Day Scheduled for September 2

At the same time as the Ku Klux Klan rally (see preceding article), 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, a group of local organizations, including the ICPJ, will collaborate with the Borough of Gettysburg in a celebration of our unity and diversity. We will come together to enjoy one another’s company, to stand together in love and friendship, and to show our rejection of all hatred.

The event will feature free hot dogs and other food items, free musical entertainment, and a range of games and other activities for children. The following musicians are currently expected to perform: Tom Jolin, The Getaway Drive Band, the Fire City Jazz Band, Starfell, The Willys, Jessica Gondwe, and the cast of For the Glory (giving a Grand Finale performance). For updated information, please visit the Community Unity website: www.adamsunity.org.

There is great need of volunteers and contributions for the event. To volunteer, please contact volunteer@adamsunity.org. To make a donation, please visit www.adamsunity.org, email donate@adamsunity.org, or send a check to “ICPJ–Community Unity” in care of the ICPJ, P.O. Box 3134, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
