Seeds to Success Farm Market Opening
by Suse Greenstone
The Seeds to Success Farm Market will be opening
this year on Saturday, June 5, 2004, and will be open every Saturday,
between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., as well as every Wednesday, between
10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Seasonal vegetables, fruit, and locally produced
salsa, jellies, baked goods, eggs, meat and cheeses and other dairy
products will be offered again–many of which are organically
produced. All products being sold in the Seeds to Success Farm Market
support equity and fair trade for the farmers and other food producers
who provide the market products, with pricing that reflects this
value. Once again, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Coupons will be
accepted as well as Food Stamps for food products. The market will
also offer indoor and outdoor plants, garden ornaments and other
gift items. A membership flower buying program also call the Seeds
to Success Flower CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) project
will again be offered this year. There will be a 15-week program,
running between June 16 and September 22, for $154.50, and an 8-week
program, running between June 16 and August 4, for $82.50. Membership
in the CSA includes one beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers
each week. If interested in subscribing to the Flower CSA, call
Barbara Gumm at 334-8694.
This year the market will run through the last Saturday
in October, closing on October 30 at 3 p.m. Seeds to Success staff
and program participants would like to thank all who supported the
Market during the past two years. They are looking forward to seeing
old customers once again and meeting new customers in this new market
year! Flyers about the Market and its spring opening are being developed
now. If you would like to help support the market even before it
opens by distributing flyers in your neighborhood or with community
organizations, please contact Suse Greenstone at 334-7634 X158 or
at jcfs@superpa.net.
Seeds to Success Life Skills Program will also be
participating with the annual Earth Day Festival on April 24, 2004,
at the Adams County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center on
Old Harrisburg Road by offering a sale of annual and perennial garden
plants, to benefit the Life Skills Program.
