Peace Camp 2006 Theme to be “Children of Mother Earth”

The ICPJ’s Peace Camp 2006 will be held June 26-30, 8:30-11:30 a.m., at the Gettysburg Area Middle School. This year the theme is going to be “Children of Mother Earth.” The kids will learn about stewardship of the earth, recycling, endangered species, and things they can do in their own community to help the earth. Director Sara Keefer is planning one or two field trips and several guest speakers.

Peace Camp is a long-standing ICPJ project, dating back to 1988. Its goal is to bring together children from various racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds to participate in a variety of activities designed to increase awareness of issues related to peace.

Peace Camp is open to children from ages 5 to 12. There are opportunities for teens to attend as Junior Counselors. There is a $5 registration fee per family (regardless of the number of children), which can be waived in cases of hardship. For more information about Peace Camp, send an email to peacecamp@icpj-gettysburg.org or leave us a message at (717) 334-0752.
