Peace Camp 2005

Press release

The Interfaith Center for Peace & Justice has set the theme for this years’ Peace Camp as Feeding a Hungry World.  During this one-week long camp, children will explore themes of local and world hunger as well as nutrition issues in the context of exciting games, crafts, and local field trips.

Peace Camp is a long-standing project of the Interfaith Center for Peace & Justice.  The goal of Peace Camp is to bring together children from various racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds to participate in a variety of activities designed to increase awareness of issues related to peace.  The primary emphasis is on learning through fun; children are encouraged to connect the peace themes to their own lives.  Recent themes have included conflict resolution, Hispanic culture, and the lives of children in other countries.

This year’s Peace Camp will be held the week of June 20th to 24th, as always, at the Gettysburg Area Middle School.  There is no charge for Peace Camp itself, however, we do ask for a $5 registration fee per family (regardless of the number of children attending).  This fee is waived automatically in cases of need (just ask!).

For more information about Peace Camp, contact this year’s Peace Camp director, Denise Weldon-Siviy at 334-6880. You can also leave a message at the ICPJ mailbox, 334-0752, and an ICPJ representative will return your call and answer any questions you might have. Or, just send an email to peacecamp@icpj-gettysburg.org.
